Do my friends need the app?
Everyone in the split uses BillBoss so they can see exactly what they owe and pay you back in a tap. It is free, and signing in takes a few seconds with your phone number.
How does the tax and tip split work?
Tax and tip are split proportionally based on what each person ordered. If you ordered 30% of the food, you pay 30% of the tax and tip. Fair to the penny.
What payment apps are supported?
BillBoss supports Venmo, Cash App, and Apple Cash. When you send a split, each person gets a link that opens their app with the exact amount already filled in. They tap to pay. (There are no QR codes, and PayPal and Zelle are not supported.)
Can I split items between multiple people?
Yes. Tap multiple names on any item and BillBoss divides the cost evenly between everyone who shared it.
What if the receipt doesn't scan correctly?
You can manually edit any item or price. Just tap the item to fix it.
How much does BillBoss cost?
BillBoss is completely free. No subscriptions, no hidden fees.
How does my group get their split?
When you send the split, everyone on it gets a notification and can open BillBoss to see their itemized share: the items they are on, their exact total, and a prefilled link to pay you back.
Does BillBoss send me text messages?
Only one kind. When you sign in, BillBoss texts you a one-time verification code to confirm your number. That is the only message we send. No marketing, no recurring texts, and we never text your friends from our number.
How do I stop texts or get help?
